This month we wanted to say “thank-you” to the project and maintenance workers for all the hard work they are doing. The elementary and high school teachers teamed up and got ingredients to make different kinds of cookies. We had one “cookie-making day” at each of the three teacher’s houses. The students picked which day they wanted to go and went to that teacher’s house. I had three students come, and it worked out perfectly. The girls did the dry ingredients, and the guys did the wet ingredients. We ended up making three 9×13 pans of chocolate chip cookie bars. The students did a great job and there was lots of laughter, especially when the cookies were baking and my middle school students tried to ride around on Benjamin’s tiny trike. 🙂

On March 5th, all the students and teachers met at the old maintenance yard at 1 o’clock to hand out cookies to the workers. Charity, one of the elementary teachers, did a wonderful job saying thank you to them in Tok Pisin. The students then handed out cookies to all the gathered men.

These are the men who do normal maintenance around the hospital compound (mowing yards, trimming hedges, repairing equipment, etc.) and the ones hired on to work on the hospital expansion project (right now they are working on expanding the outpatient area, storage warehouse, and a second maternity ward). They are all working hard to keep the hospital ministry running smoothly and moving forward. It was a blessing to be able to give them a small “thank-you” for all that they do.
